Must I support a union or loose my job?

Before I accepted employment 15 years ago I was told that I did not have to join or support a union. Last year my employer agreed with the union that all hourly employees even non union members covered by the contract were responsible to support the union with at least 80% of the union dues as an agency fee. I have moral and political objections to unions and I have refused to support them. Through the years I have endured hostilities from union members for my beliefs. The union is now threating me with termination from my job if I don't pay their ransome. To date I have refused to pay them as I liken this to giving the school bully my lunch money. The union did not provide my training, skills or employment. Must I support sloth, deciet and larceny;ideals that I loathe or loose my job?

If you are employed in Florida, the answer is no because Florida is a "right to work" state, which means that you cannot be forced to join a union. It will continue to be likely I would assume, however, that you will not be a favored son/daughter of many of your co-workers.
