Legal Question in Product Liability in Delaware

On Februaury 12, 2013 I took my car in to be serviced, an oil change, later that evening while driving the engine caught fire. As I only had liability insurance on the car, there is nothing to be received back from damages, it was a total loss. Would there be cause in pursuing a case against the dealership that worked on the car, or would it be a waste of time and money?

You would need an expert, probably a car mechanic in this case, who could examine the engine and determine whether something the dealership did caused the fire. While the fact that the engine caught fire within hours is suggestive, that alone does not prove that the dealership did something wrong. Legal fees would add to your expense, but you can file a civil case for damages up to $15,000 without a lawyer in Justice of the Peace Court (http://courts.delaware.gov/JPCourt/index.stm).
