Legal Question in Business Law in District of Columbia
power of attorneys
Under what circumstances are overseas powers of attorney (POA) valid in the U.S. if made in English and notarized by an attorney? I have a case where an acquiesce made a POA in Central America to her husband to do business in the States. The POA is in English and notarized by their attorney.
A follow-up general question: if person A gives a POA to B, can B then grant identical POA to C?

Re: power of attorneys
The answer to the second question is No. A POA is personal.
As to the first, if it is to convey real property, it is best to check with the closing agent. If properly executed, a POA may still be valid even if executed out of the Country.
