Legal Question in Constitutional Law in District of Columbia

Restrictions of Free Speech (i.e. rational review)

I am taking a law class from well-known college as part of a business degree. The professor gave on lecture on free speech and described 3 circumstances or tests for when the govt. can suppress public speech. The terms he used where Strict Scrutiny, Intermediate Scrutiny, and Rational Review. I have spent a great deal of time searching for these terms, but I can't seem to find the case(s) where the court outlined these tests. I would ask my professor, but currently I cannot contact him. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Restrictions of Free Speech (i.e. rational review)

You're taking a law class,--part of your training is to find this sort of thing! You'll have to sort the wheat out, but if it's a law school web site, you're in pretty good shape.

:o))

I'll give you a hint though:

Melville B. Nimmer, Nimmer on Freedom of Speech (1984).

There are TONS of web sites that talk about these things.
