Legal Question in Construction Law in District of Columbia
I need a lawyer due to a general contractor who performed shotty work on my home. While I was away for 6 months he was supposed to gut my home and have ready for my return. When I returned the house was incomplete, not within code and I even had to face the city permit office due to a work stoppage on his violation on my house. He has taken 3/4 of the construction budget and I need to get a lawyer to get restitution. The house is still unfinished. He took my retirement funds, so I don't have money to hire a lawyer with retainer fee. I am hoping to get pro bono or contingency. I need to finish my house so I can get my life back. Please help me find the best way possible to get a good lawyer.

It will probably be difficult to find a lawyer to represent you pro bono, as this is typically not the sort of case for which pro bono services are offered. Depending on the amount of money at stake, however, a lawyer may consider this case on a contingency basis. More details are likely necessary to make such an assessment, however.
