Legal Question in Construction Law in District of Columbia
Repair caused by shoddy work
I live in a condo building with two units. It was converted from a single family house 4 years ago. The developer who did the conversion overlooked/ignored termite damage in a floor joist resulting in a signicant sag in one of the units. This problem was only identified after a repair contractor was hired to repair the area. When the damage was identified the developer was contacted, and asked to reimburse the condo for the cost of the repair. He has since refused to cover any of the costs. What is the best course of action to recoop the $$ from the developer as this was clearly due to his poor workmanship?

Re: Repair caused by shoddy work
The matter should be referred to the condo association's attorney for review and appropriate action(in my opinion).
