Legal Question in Consumer Law in District of Columbia

Using Bacardi's ''black bat'' as basis for a costume

Bacardi is a well not distributer in the Bahamas. The Bahamian organization is Washington DC will be performing in the 2006 Caribbean Carnival/Parade in June. The theme for this year is ''Party in the Backyard'' and all of our costumes will depict a Bahamian party. One of our major pieces is entitled ''Drinks.'' Within the costume is a Black Bat that is used to symbolize Bacardi. However, the bat is facing the opposit direction and has no legs... but it does bear similarities. Would we get in trouble for making the bat similar but not exact to the Bacardi black bat?

Probably not for one time parade use.(Bacardi might even be flattered by your use of their logo.)
