Legal Question in Consumer Law in District of Columbia

Credit Card Usage - Underage

Hi:

When I was 16 years old, I misrepresented my age on some credit card applications and obtained several credit cards. These cards went into delinquency when I was unable to pay the bills and my credit history was damaged. I have finally paid off all the credit cards (5 total), but the accounts are still affecting my credit report and will remain on it for a total of 7 years. Since I was a minor at the time I applied for these cards and didn't have capacity to proceed with the credit card contracts, is there anything I can do to have these accounts deleted from my credit report? After all, they have been paid off completely.

Thank you.

Re: Credit Card Usage - Underage

The answer is no, your initial misrepresentations(i.e lies)in order to secure the cards in the first place will not now afford you an easy way out of your mottled credit history for which you have only yourself to blame.

The solution is to continue to pay all of your bills in a timely manner which will eventually establish a credit record for you that will override the less laudatory one.
