Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in District of Columbia

10-year disputed debt

I had a disputed debt in collection from 10/98. We tried to arrive at some response and verification. never received one. Based on my supporting evidence, was removed from my credit report in 2004. Now some man calls my office everyday demanding I return the call - this a.m. he said by 12p.m. today. What are my rights - has this debt not expired? What can he do legally? I have received nothing in writing from this man and he does not mention the firm. How can one just use voice mail as a legal instrument? It was supposedly a debt of 11k from Yale University - which I disputed.
