Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in District of Columbia

Contractor owes you money

What legal actions can I take against a contractor who left owing me $2000 due to him

forfieting the contract because of manpower and inexperienced workers. I have an signed agreement from him that he will pay me back on July 1, 2006 but now he is filing bankruptcy. If I take him to small claims court will I be able to collect this $2000 he owes me if he files for bankruptcy?

No, you will not be able to collect the small claims court judgment if in fact it is discharged in bankruptcy.
