Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in District of Columbia
Sex discrimination demonstrated by different credit offers
A major credit card company has mailed very different credit card offers to me and my boyfriend. The offer to my boyfriend is pre-approved for a better line of credit with more advanced priviledges. My offer is not pre-approved, but instead to apply for a lesser line of credit. My boyfriend and I both own the same house 50/50. I make more money and have more established and better credit. My only debt is 1/2 the mortgage. My boyfriend has a huge school loan, earns less, and less credit than me. Wouldn't this situation qualify as sex discrimination according to the Fair Credit Lending laws?
