Legal Question in Criminal Law in District of Columbia

court

I got into a fight with my friend and got charged with simple assault, i would like to know what would happen if he did not show up in court on court date? I would also like to know what would happen if he showed up and decided to drop the case? This happened in the district of columbia.

Thank you

Re: court

This depends on various factors. Usually, the government will make all attempts to prosecute assault cases, and if they feel it is necessary and appropriate they can use the powers of the court to force the "victim" into testifying. You should consult with a defense lawyer to provide more details.
