Legal Question in Criminal Law in District of Columbia

Curious about fraud.

If a politician deliberately misrepresents their office for the purpose of monetary gain, is it considered fraud?

Thanks for considering my question. :)

Re: Curious about fraud.

If a politician such as the former Ohio congressman, James Trafficante, provably uses

his office to secure benefits from others for

himself in demonstrably quid pro quo transactions, numerous federal as well as state crimes can be implicated(fraud may be but one) in

this kind of conduct which can easily land one in the federal penitentiary----where Mr.Trafficante currently resides.
