Legal Question in Criminal Law in District of Columbia

misrepresentation

I am in DC, and tried to use my fake to get into a bar and was arrested. I also had another fake ID on me. I have an arraignment scheduled for 2 days after I leave the city, is there any way I can get that changed? Also, what will I be charged with, and will it stay on my record? Should I try to get an attorney?

Re: misrepresentation

Find out exactly what you've been charged with by contacting the appropriate clerk's office in the DC Superior Court and whether the matter is being prosecuted by the DC Office of Attorney General as a local petty type offense or the U.S. attorney's office on 4th Street. which handles more serious misdemeanor and felony cases. You should then be able to get the name of the local prosecutor assigned to the matter and to contact him or her regarding what you need to do to get a continuance or, perhaps,

enter an early pretrial plea to settle the matter.
