Legal Question in Criminal Law in District of Columbia
My mother was shopping at target and paid for all of her items except one. She was rushing but the security guard stopped her and reminded her to pay for it and as she stood in the line, she was approached by 3 officers, one of which was determined that she did the crime and wanted to take her to jail. My mother never left the store with the item. She was detained and later booked then held in the holding cell for a few hours. She returned home on a citation to appear in court, will she be convicted?

Her chances of not being convicted are BETTER with an attorney on board. Don't go it alone!!

Not with these facts, if she gets a good criminal defense lawyer.
