Legal Question in Criminal Law in District of Columbia

Help needed

I am being charged with PPW (a BB gun) and simple assault. I have never been in trouble before and the charges are a lie. I was driving my car when a man hit my car with something in his hand and scratched it down the side. We got into it and he spit in my face and I slap him and went back to my vehicle. He follow me and seen a bebe gun on the floor of the car when I got in. He flagged down some officers on the next block and they stopped my car and searched it and arrested me. Now they are trying to get me to agree to the charges and they will drop the PPW to APPW and drop the simple assault with no jail time and probation with anger management but if I don't I could face a year in jail and lose everything I worked for. Tell the true and resist going to jail for a year or lie and do no jail time but he a record of APPW. None of the witness said I had a BB gun however they threaten my son after he wrote his statement had him write I had a BB to scare the man. What do I do?

Re: Help needed

You would be well advised to arrange for a consultation with a competent defense counsel in this matter----before you are railroaded into an what could possibly be an unnecessary and unjustified plea of guilty for which you may in fact---be reasonably not.
