Legal Question in Criminal Law in District of Columbia

Simple assalt

Hi,I'm working professional for a defense company in DC. I've been charged with simple assault by police, I've no prior records, never been arrested. I was at a night club in DC with my friend on the Halloweens day party. it was on the dance floor talking this lady, it was loud and crowded, she was with her 3/4 friends and I believe she is a student, long story short, she pushed me, I pushed her and she came back punched he on the face and I pushed her hard and she grabbed the whole attention of the crowd and made me arrested (she also showed a very small redness on her neck-shoulder area to the police, I've no clue where she got that from..honest to god, she seems very cunning). My trail in the court is early next year(2007) and she seems to be very determined to punish me! I'm sure she will show up to the court with her friends to witness against me and I will be with my friend as my witness.

My question is, will I be going to serve any jail sentence?. Please help!

BTW: I 've hired an attorney, he says it all depends on the judge what he believe in!

Do I need to look for an new attorney?? I'm ready to spend couple of grands extra!!

Thanks in advance!

Re: Simple assalt

You may have misunderstood your attorney. Under no circumstances will you as a first time alleged offender be serving any jail time for this particular alleged offense.
