Legal Question in Criminal Law in District of Columbia

State/Federal Holds

An inmate who's completed their sentence in the state of GA is awaiting Fedral pickup to face charges in DC was released from GA system 5/28/09, moved to Dooly Justice Ctr (GA), then picked up and moved to USP Atlanta 6/10/09. Now 6/17/09 is being held at FCI Petersburg (VA). Why the jumps? How long can he be held while he awaits the final extridition to DC? What are the statutes?

Re: State/Federal Holds

"Why the jumps", you ask, in regard to this inmate's extradition from Georgia to DC? Since the federal marshals service is likely moving him, you probably need to ask them rather than anyone in this forum.
