Legal Question in Discrimination Law in District of Columbia
Breach of medical confidentiality?
I had a lot to drink, and went back to my dorm room, and was later found unconscious by my roommates. They called the University Police Department, who in turn took me to the University Hospital. UPD asked me for identification, and I accidentally furnished them with a false ID indicated that I was 21 before I provided them with a real ID. I was at the time applying to be an RA at the university. At my RA interview, my application was denied because they had been made aware of my experience with UPD and the hospital. Additionally, I now will be required to have a case with Student Judicial service where I may be fined and could potentially lose housing. It is my understanding that my situation falls under medical confidentiality laws and no one aside from myself should have been notified or made away of these circumstances. Am I correct in this belief, and should I seek further legal counsel?

Re: Breach of medical confidentiality?
I don't believe that your voluntary disclosure of your false I.D. comes under any kind of medical confidentiality inasmuch as you disclosed it to the Campus Cops. As to your medical condition, it is not clear that was what was disclosed. If it was, you might have a legitimate complaint.
