A lawyer familiar with D.C. traffic court practices and procedures may be able to get your
DUI (.08 +) reduced to the less serious charge of
DWI (Driving While Impaired .08 -)since you're a first time offender, although the BAC level is high. This will, also, mean a considerably reduced fine, an automatic suspension of any jail time imposed and, generally, a hassle free probation period that should not extend beyond six months. The reduced charge is, also, much to
be desired in terms of consequences for your insurance coverage and keeping premiums from skyrocketing(although, even this charge will not prevent them from going up for this particular offense).
There are, of course, no guarantees for this kind
of situation and the operative word in my first sentence is "may".
