Legal Question in Family Law in District of Columbia

Adjustment of Divorce Retirement Distribution

I divorced in CO 10 years ago. Spouse gets half of retirement earned during marriage, which was automatic for CO. At the time, I was active-duty military residing in CO, with TX as permanent residence. Can I seek a change?

Re: Adjustment of Divorce Retirement Distribution

Assuming that this was part of a property settlement agreement between you and your former spouse which was incorporated into your final decree of divorce in Colorado, it's unlikely that it would now be subject to modification. However, you might wish to arrange for a consultation with a Colorado attorney who has expertise in this area of Colorado law, and who should be able to further advise you on this matter.
