Re: Child custody

Primary custody is where one parent has physical

and, usually, sole legal custody of a child as opposed to the non-custodial parent who has rights of visitation and, usually, the responsibility for paying for the majority of the monetary support which may be ordered by the court having jurisdiction over these matters. Sometimes the non-custodial parent will share in the legal custody of the child, meaning that this parent has a right to share in the decisions affecting the child's medical care, education, and other major issues affecting the child's life and well being, etc.

The rights and privileges of boths parents as well as the obligations and responsibilities will normally be detailed either in an order from the court referenced above or in a consent order whch the parents have agreed to and which has been approved and entered by this court.
