What is the current law regarding dissolution of domestic partnerships in D.C.? Is there a probationary period/ anniversary date that needs to pass before benefits, etc. are recognized?

Re: Dissolution of Domestic Partnership

Sec. 32-702 of the D.C. Code governs the registration and termination of domestic partnerships. A request to terminate such a partnership must be filed with the mayor with a copy properly served upon the other partner unless the latter has also signed the request for termination.

This provision also states that benefits will continue to be paid for six months from the date of termination.
