Legal Question in Family Law in District of Columbia

divorce contested

My wife abandonned me since last year April 10, 2008 to go oversee and came back March 31, 2009. She has more than $500,000 + in her account and resigned her job because she felt she could retire and consented that the house I owned before we got married she will not claim anything. Now thatI sold the house at $165,000 she wants part of the money. I am 64 years , between jobs , temping making about $55,000 a year.I have a car note of $362 with a balance of about $11,000., I am renting an appartement I pay $700.

I wonder what can be the outcome if we push for divorce.

Re: divorce contested

Hard to say on these few facts. I would suggest that

you arrange for a consultation with a DC lawyer knowledgeable and experienced in DC domestic relations and divorce matters and who should be able to address your questions after reviewing many more of the relevant facts connected with your particular situation.
