How to I go about filing for divorce got married on 3/21/2003 and split up 10/2003 have been living apart for about four years I live in Pennsylvania and he lives in Washington DC I dont know exactly where he lives. We got married in Washington been living in PA for about a year and 10 months.

It would be quicker if you could locate your husband. One, you would need his consent to Pennsylvania jurisdiction. Once you have that you could get a divorce based on two years separation. The advantage to that is once you have successfully served him with the divorce papers is that if he never responds to the divorce you can get the divorce without him signing any paper work.

You should be able to file for a no-fault divorce as a resident of Pensylvania even if you're now unsure of your husband's current whereabouts.
However, if such is the case, you, nevertheless, should be able to obtain the Pennsylvania court's permission to file what's called a notice of publication of your divorce action in one of the local newspapers for three or four weeks consecutively. Once this has been done, you will then have met the statutory requirements of notice to your husband and you will then be free to proceed with the rest of your divorce.
