Legal Question in Family Law in District of Columbia

Foreign judgment

I received a complaint to enroll foreign judgment from my son's father who has custody. he requested that the court order from the family court in NY 1999 be recognized and enforced in MD and that the plantiff be granted such other and further relief as the nature of his cause may require. I personally didnt like the initial order which was made when we lived in different states and now that we live in the same states he wants to enforce that order here now that we are both residence of the same state. I have 60 days to respond Im not sure how. I agree to move the order here but I want the terms to change how do I respond and do I need to be concerned that he is setting me up for something else.

Re: Foreign judgment

Your concern is well placed, i.e.,in reference to your question: "Do I need to be concerned that he is setting me up for something else?" Indeed, he very well might be, which is why you should seek a consultation with a lawyer appropriately knowledgeable in Maryland family law matters who can then review the enrolled foreign judgment, assess the other relevant facts associated with this matter, and, thereupon, advise you as to an appropriate course of action.
