Legal Question in Family Law in District of Columbia
friend in need
A friend has filed for custody for his son. His ex and her mother took him for joint custody some yrs back. Well his son has been with him for the past 3 yrs. and has taken care of him. The ex and mother denied that the son has been with the father these past years. He has school records along with witnesses. The ex also had the nerve to say that she wants to share physical custudy. Since they are tell an un-truth and they know that it is not true and can be proven how will the court judge this case?

Re: friend in need
Your friend should gather all of the evidence he can regarding the lies and fabrications which have been allegedly perpetrated by the child's mother and contact an attorney to have
it all properly presented as part of his custody action in the DC Family Court.
Re: friend in need
The judge is going to apply a "best interest of the child" standard. You should have your friend call a family law attorney ASAP.
