Legal Question in Family Law in District of Columbia

incomplete annulment/unable to locate illegal alien spouse

I have just learned that my annulment was never completed. This marriage was to have been annulled in 1995.

I married an illegal Ecuadorian, we never consummated the marriage, never lived together, nothing. I lived in a different country at the time(am American citizen).

The last time I saw him we were in the lawyers office in 1995 in Manhattan signing annulment papersI never saw any final papers and could never find him again. He was an illegal alien and is probably back in Ecuador. He had moved and I could never locate him again.

I dont know the name of the lawyer or law office.

I was just in NYC to get the divorce certificate and they could find no divorce on the record.

I dont care if the marriage is annulled or divorced. I just want it taken care of.

Re: incomplete annulment/unable to locate illegal alien spouse

I would suggest that you file for a no-fault divorce in D.C. There's a forms packet you can pickup at the D.C. Superior Court (4th flr.-Domestic Relations Clerk's Office) explaining how to do this on your own or you can retain an attorney to handle it.
