Legal Question in Family Law in District of Columbia
QDRO's
Divorce 2003. ''X'' did not contact my employer for QDRO split. He passed in 2005. There is a flag on that retirement account pending his action. Employer wants a signed release from ''X'' or copy of divorce saying ''X'' is not entitled. What do I do?

Re: QDRO's
Contact the executor of X's estate to sign the employer's release as representative of his estate and to submit a demand for payment of the entire retirement account to the estate. The executor should then remit half of the proceeds from the account to you in keeping with the dictates of the divorce decree.
If for some reason the estate has already closed or X died intestate without a will, you'll likely need to see an attorney for assistance with this matter.
