relinquish custody

currently I have temp. custody of my sister's children. I am unable to take care of them at this point. How can i relinquish custody of them. The mother has come back in the picture.

You should request a hearing before the D.C. Superior Court judge who awarded you the temporary custody in order to explain the circumstances which now apparently require your withdrawal as the children's custodian.

In the event that there is no court order regarding this temporary custodial arrangement, but rather merely an agreement between you and your sister, you should contact her to let her know of your situation and that she must come and pick up her children and resume her custodial duties and obligations or you will have no alternative but to contact Child & Family Services to surrender the children into the custody of this agency.
