Legal Question in Family Law in District of Columbia

Termination of Paternal Rights

I am a teen father to be and I am preparing myself to go to war for custody...I do not expect to win but there is another, alomst better. aleternative but I need to know if it is possible. Can both our rights to our baby be terminated and the baby be put up for adoption if I can successfully prove us both to be unfit as parents?

Re: Termination of Paternal Rights

No, this would not be a feasible course of action, procedurally speaking, from a legal perspective.( A plaintiff or defendant in any matter being litigated in a court of law, puts on a case not to deliberately defeat his or her own claim(s) but rather those of the adversary party.)

It may also be worth noting that even if you were awarded custody of this child, that would not give you the unilateral and exclusive right to have the child put up for adoption.
