Legal Question in Civil Litigation in District of Columbia

Interest on small claim

I am about to file a claim to get back the loan I made out over a year ago. What I am interested in knowing is if I can and in what amount can I assign interest on this loan. Even thought interest was never discussed I also didn't expect to wait so long to be paid back. Please help!

Re: Interest on small claim

In the absence of an express contract, under the D.C. Code, the interest on a loan is six percent a year.
