Legal Question in Civil Litigation in District of Columbia

oral vs. written contract - small claims

I am being sued by an ex-partner for $1,900.00 for bills he claims we both accured over a 3-year period. During this time, I advanced him funds for two down payments on cars and other personal loans totalling approximately $5,000.00 We both belonged to the same credit union where my statements indicate funds transfers to his account by MEMBER NUMBER ONLY. Unfortunately, this is the only proof of the loans and exchange of funds I have to show in court as the credit union will not give any information on members. Is this sufficient evidence to prove that monies for outstanding bills have been paid and that it is HE that owes ME money?
