Legal Question in Immigration Law in District of Columbia

Applying for US citizenship

Hello,

I ignored one jury duty notice when I was a green card holder.

At that time I was new to USA and I don't know what is jury duty.

Now I am applying for citizenship, is it going to effect me?

Please advise

Re: Applying for US citizenship

No, it should have no effect on your application for naturalization.

Re: Applying for US citizenship

Only US citizens may serve on juries.

Until you are a US citizen, you likely should check the noncitizen box or otherwise indicate on the response form that you are not a US citizen and are not yet eligible to serve on the jury.

In certain places, the courts are cracking down on people who do not respond to jury summons.
