Legal Question in Employment Law in District of Columbia

I am 65 years old and have a contract with a D. C Newspaper. I am a resident of MD. Mt contract has an expiration date of October, 2010. The contract spell out that I am to be paid a specific commission on ads that run in the Newspaper. As of Nov 25, 2009. this newspaper ows me commission for the months of September and October and shortly November of 2009. A substancial amount of money, $14,000 for Sept, $12,000 for October. I am told this is a cash flow problem and can't get specific dates for promised payment. What do I do and who do I commission??

Cash flow problems for this DC newspaper, you say? Assuming that it's not the Washington Post or Times, I would give you little chance of ever collecting anything on these unpaid commissions from a publication that would seem likely headed for bankruptcy and probably sooner rather than later(in my opinion).
