Legal Question in Employment Law in District of Columbia
lunch breaks and smoking
My place of employment (a hospital) will become smoke free in a couple of months. They have indicated that employees will not be able to smoke on campus but also that employees cannot smoke anytime during their 8 hours even if the employee has gone off site for lunch. Is this legal?

Yes, quite probably, and such employer rules are becoming increasingly common and have already withstood legal challenges.
