Legal Question in Employment Law in District of Columbia

Required to pay salary after resignation?

A management employee gives 30 days notice (per organizational policy) of resignation. Executive Director prefers employee leave immediately rather than working through the full 30 day notice period. Is organization legally obligated to pay employee's salary for the 30 day period when they were willing to work, as per resignation notice requirements? (No disciplinary measure of any kind were underway for employee, this is a senior level position, employee is in first 6 months of tenure but no probationary period policies exist within the organization.) Employer is located in the District of Columbia and has 21 FT positions on the books.

Thank you.

Re: Required to pay salary after resignation?

Unless the management employee was working under a contract which provided for such payment under such circumstances, the answer must necessarily be in the negative.

The District of Columbia(being part of the Congressional plantation)is a so-called right to work jurisdiction where corporate employers are

given expanded rights with respect to labor laws and regulations and their employees correspondingly restricted rights when it comes to such laws and regulations.
