Legal Question in Employment Law in District of Columbia
Treasury Employees Stranded Without Jobs When Reagan Took Office
I want to locate a federal case, possibly a Supreme Court case, filed by the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU)in the early 1980's. Employees were promised jobs by the Carter administration, sold their homes and moved to the Washington, DC area, and either not hired or terminated when Carter lost the election and Reagan took over. Reagan placed a freeze on federal hiring. A key issue in this case related to the Standard Form 50, Personnel Action Form, as the only binding document between the agency and the employee.

Contact the NTEU's legal affairs office. They
should have a record if such a case was ever filed and be able to give you the pertinent details. MEH
