Legal Question in Employment Law in District of Columbia

I work in Dc and was terminated today due to a coworker saying I have been harassing her. I have never gotten a write up or a talking to about this matter. What can I do?

Unless you were working under the protection of a contract, probably, just look for another job(while you file for unemployment benefits).

If you are a government employee, you have greater protections relating to being fired. Review the employee manual for your rights.

If you are a private employee and you believe you were let go without cause, review your employee manual to determine if you have any appeal rights. Although you are an employee at will, some employers have a review process set up. Also, if a middle manager released you, go above that person's head and write to an upper level manager or HR supervisor. If you are a valued employee, those in upper management may veto that middle manager's decision. It's worth the try in this horrible economy.
