Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in District of Columbia

My father is a landlord, he signed a lease with someone but now don't feel comfortable with the persons situation, because the person is not working. Can he cancel the lease before the term of the lease begin. Please advise.

Unless the lease agreement specifically allows the landlord to do this, he cannot cancel the lease without breaching it. You should be able to find information on DC landlord-tenant law on the internet. Consult with an attorney if you still have questions.
