Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in District of Columbia
Lease Question
On may 26, 2009 I signed a house rental lease for a one year term (june1, 2009 - may 31, 2010).
i have not taken position of the house yet (the current tenants are still living there). I would now like to back out of the lease. Since it's only been 3 days since i signed the lease, am i able to do that without incurring any penalties. is there a grace period for a leasee to back out of a signed lease?

Re: Lease Question
No, there is no "grace period" recognized in the
Commonwealth for backing out of signed leases, and
you will only be able to do so (without penalty) in regard to this particular lease if the landlord allows for it.
