Legal Question in Product Liability in District of Columbia

Marijuana in the Mail

Hi,

I was just wondering what would happen if customs (or some other equivalent organization) found and therefore confiscated a package with said illicit material in it. If my name was who it was addressed to, would I be liable? What if it was shipped to another name, but my address?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Dan

Re: Marijuana in the Mail

If such an event were to occur, you could quickly become what law enforcement often refers to as a person of interest, then, perhaps, a suspect, and, after that, possibly, even a person indicted.

you would get caught and prosecuted for possession and probably intent to sell; use of the mail would make it a Federal crime.
