Legal Question in Real Estate Law in District of Columbia

HUD-1 Revisions After Settlement Date of a Residence

Hi,

After my settlement on 12/29/05, my settlement title company revised form HUD-1 saying that they incorrectly placed the amount of Lender's and Home Insurance (approx. $2,000)on the Sellers' column and should have been on the Borrower's column. I am the Borrower. Can they revise the numbers of a HUD1 after settlement and in doing so, are they entitled to money back? Wasn't the transaction a done deal at settlement? Was this their mistake and as a business, they need to assume it? What am I legally responsible to proceed?

Thanks

Innocent mistakes do happen and often borrowers sign an agreement to cooperate to make required corrections. That said, considering the amount of money at issue, you may wish to have an attorney review the entire package of documents to make sure there are no other mistakes and to review the accuracy of this issue.
