Real State property

A person in my neighborhood passed away about a year or little over a year. It was told that the family member that house was to go to can't be located. What will happen to the house if no family step up and claim the house? What can I do if I have interest in house?

If taxes are not paid on the property, it will likely end up being auctioned by the local government entity for the payment of back taxes.
