Legal Question in Traffic Law in District of Columbia

Statute of Limitations on Parking Tickets

I recently learned that the District of Columbia govt has reported me to the credit bureau as delinquent on a ticket that I supposedly received in 8/2000. Is there a statute of limitations on parking tickets in the District of Columbia?

Re: Statute of Limitations on Parking Tickets

No, statutes of limitation do not apply to unpaid parking tickets. However, it would be doubtful that any credit reporting agency would attach much importance to the alleged credit worthiness of the individual who is so charged with nonpayment of such tickets. In fact, it might be credibly argued (in my view), at least under certain circumstances, that a refusal to pay outlandish parking violations should actually be regarded as a mark of sound judgment and which, consequently, might therefore be credibly extrapolated to (possibly)representing some measure of sound credit worthiness on the part of the one who may properly take credit for such refusal.

AMEN.
