Legal Question in Traffic Law in District of Columbia

Old traffic ticket on my credit report??

I just checked my credit report to try to buy a house and saw a item from Professional Account Mgmt, a collection agency for $200. This is only on my Experian rpt and is dropping my score by 65 points compared to my other scores. Come to find out that it is a photo ticket from I295 from 12/07/2004 for speeding 16-20mph over that I never got. DC govt says they mailed it on 12/22/04 and 5/11/05. Is there any way to fight this and is this legal for them to report this to my credit bureau? This was just put on 9/07. It dosen't seem right, esp since I really have never seen this ticket. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

Re: Old traffic ticket on my credit report??

This unpaid traffic ticket which apparently remains unpaid through no fault of yours should be a negligible factor(if that)in the evaluation of your credit worthiness by any prospective creditor. There may very well be other reasons as to why your Experian FICO score is lower than those reported by other credit reporting agencies.

And, you could always submit your version(up to 250 words) of this unpaid ticket in writing to Experian

to have included in your report.
