Legal Question in Traffic Law in District of Columbia

Yesterday morning I was running late to work so I drove and I found an open spot and parked @ 1block from my work. I failed to notice however that I parked in a handicapped spot. The car was towed. Today I was charged the towing fee - 100, day storage - 20, and the ticket was 500! This is $620 for a porely marked street-parking job. This is an unfair amount. Is there anything I can do?

You can go to a hearing for the $500 ticket and explain to the judge and present the defense that the space was not clearly marked. There should be a procedure on the ticket for requesting a hearing. At least, they may reduce the cost of the ticket. I doubt if you will be successful doing anything about the towing and storage other than complain to the City to repaint the space or mark it better in some way.
