Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in District of Columbia
100 old home left to 10 adult children in 1970. Now only 4 are still living. One has lived in the home for 40 years and now is living in a nursing home due to early dementia. The other brother has change the locks and is holding the brother property and is not paying the bill. Should I take guardianship and reopen will to creat a trust to protect the interest of the other brother.

There is not enough information in this question to give you a proper answer. You mention 4 living children, one brother with dementia, and the "other" brother changing the locks. Where are the other 2 living siblings? What rights do they have in the property? Why is the other brother putting locks on the house?
I STRONGLY recommend that you consult with a District of Columbia real estate law and/or estates and trust lawyer to discuss the specific facts of your situation and your options. If you would like to spend some more time laying out the facts of your situation on LawGuru, I would be happy to review it again and try to provide you with some information.
