Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in District of Columbia

my father died in 1984 while married to my mother who recently died in 2008. I have been paying taxes on property in his name located in a souther state. Also, I have paid taxes on property left to his brother (deceased prior to my father) which was divided and is in the name of "his brother and Heirs".

Question...my father died without a will, however my mother had a will and also transferred most of their real estate prior to her death to a Family Trust to avoid probate. I have learned that the property was listed for transfer with the attorney but it was never transferred because it was still in my father's name. What are my options....how do I get the property in the trust or sell it?

In my view you would be well advised to arrrange for a DC attorney who handles real property law and probate matters in that jurisdiction to advise you on this particular matter.
