Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in District of Columbia

My father who lived in Richmond VA help take care of my Grandmother all of his life until he was stricken with Cancer. He passed away a few years ago. My Grandmother, 94, has 3 remaining children. Upon her death, would my Mother inherit on behalf of my Father anything from my Grandmother's estate valued at $600,000?

If your grandmother provides for your mother in her will, then your mother will inherit part of the estate. If your grandmother's will only names her 4 children, then the 3 children still alive at the time of her death will split her estate. If your grandmother does not have a will, then you will need to check the intestacy laws in the state where she lives. If she lives in D.C., you will want to check D.C. Intestacy Laws in Title 19, Descent and Distribution. Regards,
